College Academic Vocational Executive - Saudi Arabia
We seek a senior, postsecondary academic/vocational executive to serve as provider's head for a technical college transformation project in Saudi Arabia. The Provider Head leads a team of 15-25 instructional and administrative coaches who are engaged in a three-year (minimum) effort to uplift technical colleges in Saudi Arabia as part of a massive, nationwide initiative to revamp the entire college-level vocational training system. The team coaches every member of the College’s faculty and staff through a diverse range of sustained, intensive professional development activities focused around three clusters of outcomes: increasing student success; enhancing instructional performance; and improving campus operational capabilities.
The mandate for improvement is very broad: it includes developing new programs (including the College’s first four-year degrees), greatly improving existing programs, creating new pathways to graduate employment, exploring new models of workforce and community development, expanding the student success pipeline from within-school-only to lifelong learning, greatly expanding campus operational capabilities and administrative competencies; and creating new career pathways for College personnel.
The Provider Head will work intensively and collaboratively with the Dean (College CEO), in a mentoring/coaching relationship. Broad and deep experience in college-level educational/vocational leadership will be essential to forging the necessary relationships and providing the needed leadership. Community college experience will be particularly valuable. In addition to demonstrated competence in mentoring academic leaders, a passion for educational innovation and improvement will be essential attributes of the successful candidate.
Essential Job Functions:
Coach a college-level CEO (the Dean): collaborate on and implement a Personal Learning Plan for the Dean; address and support motivation; provide feedback, diagnose obstacles, identify effective remedies for those obstacles from among the diverse project resources, and coordinate the effective provision of those remedies to the Dean.
Represent the project effectively to key government, educational, and labor-market stakeholders. Reflect and promote the project’s core values, including but not limited to: the inherent value of education and dignity of work; sustainable human-resource developmental strategies; rigorous application of continuous quality improvement principles and practices; and evidence based, student centric decision making. Supervise team members dispersed at multiple campuses, including design and supervision of managerial controls and design and oversight of intensive team inservice professional development activities. Participate in hiring replacement team members if needed.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in academic/vocational leadership for subordinate coaches tasked with developing current College managers into future College leaders. Serve as the public face of the project in community and media activities. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
PhD; in-process may be acceptable in especially strong candidates.
Formal credentials in mentoring or executive coaching a strong plus.
preponderance of educational qualifications must have been awarded by educational institutions in advanced industrial economies; North American institutions preferred.
Preponderance of academic/vocational work experience must have occurred in institutions in advanced industrial economies; North American institutions and especially technical/community colleges preferred.
Minimum 10 years of educational administrative experience, 7 years at executive (C-suite) levels, in an education system in an advanced industrial economy (North America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand).
A track record of success in challenging education environments.
Background in STEM technical/vocational education environments (STEM degree(s) a plus).
Documented experience in mentoring or executive coaching.
Prior international/MENA experience is a plus.
Native speaker of English; North American dialect preferred.
Exceptional social and emotional intelligence, able to work effectively with personalities and cultures other than one’s own.
Effective leadership skills, with an engaging personal style.

Ability and willingness to relocate to KSA for the duration of the contract.
Lead the design and implementation of leading edge administrative and/or instructional practices at institutional scale.
Lead strategic visioning and planning initiatives at multi-campus scale
