Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Administration is the chief administrative officer for the School of Law. S/he oversees budget planning and financial management, facilities, human resources, information technology, and other operational issues at the School of Law. In addition, s/he advises the Dean on matters relating to budget planning and finance, facilities, human resources, information technology, and general resource allocation. S/he serves as a member of the Dean's senior administrative team, and works with the Dean and other Associate Deans to develop and implement School policy. The Associate Dean for Administration is a senior-level position that reports directly to the Dean of the School. Ultimate authority for the School's fiscal and technology operations rests with the Dean; however, the Associate Dean for Administration is expected to carry out assigned duties and functions in a substantially independent manner, operating under general policy guidelines from the Dean and University.

Education Requirements: 1. Masters level degree in a relevant discipline, such as an M.B.A. or other appropriate degree (e.g., accounting, business, finance, and public administration).
Qualification and Experience: 1. Budget management experience; 2. Demonstrated organizational leadership and ability to manage and supervise personnel; 3. Ability to inspire trust and work collegially with staff, faculty members, school and campus officers, and external officials in peer-to-peer interactions; 4. Extraordinary attention to detail and accuracy; 5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; 6. Ability to work efficiently on multiple assignments; 6. Demonstrated organizational leadership and ability to manage personnel; and 7. Five or more years of successful, relevant managerial and supervisory experience, with preference for experience in an academic environment. Preferred Qualifications include: 1. Experience in an academic, higher education setting; 2. Knowledge operating policies of the University of North Carolina; and 3. Human resources, and technology management experience; and 4. Second master's degree in relevant discipline, such as M.I.S. or other appropriate degree (e.g., computer science, instructional technology), or its equivalent is preferred.
