Department Overview
The College of Science at the University of North Texas consists of the departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, the interdisciplinary programs Teach North Texas, BioDiscovery Institute and Advanced Environmental Research Institute. The college offers Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees in science and mathematics, currently serving more than 3,800 majors. Our faculty are world-class researchers in science and mathematics, and the college faculty and staff work together to provide excellent support to our students in their academic education and professional development.

Job Description
The College of Science Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Academic Financial & Research Officer to join our team.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Supports Dean and college leadership in strategic financial analyses.

* Serves as the chief financial officer for the college and is the principal financial advisor to the Dean.

* Provides guidance, direction and training to administrative coordinators and department chairs regarding financial matters.

* Performs regular financial and personnel reviews for all sponsored project accounts in the college to ensure compliance with federal cost principles, University policy and sponsor terms and conditions.

* Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, spending guidelines and cost principles to include but not limited to the Texas General Appropriation Act, Internal Revenue Code, Uniform Guidance, and endowment MOU requirements.

* Tracks and monitors non-appropriated accounts to include instructional fees, foundation accounts, grants and contracts.

* Prepares detailed data for College's accrediting entity for statistical purposes that is a critical component of the College's re-accreditation review process.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree with coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and eight years of progressively responsible financial administration or budget management experience. Additional education may be substituted for required experience. Experience may not be substituted for education.
