Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Job duties include:

On-site support to child care providers, service coordinators, and educators through training and technical assistance throughout South Carolina.

Coordination of special initiatives within child care programs.

Management of assigned referrals, including correspondence and timely reporting of data collected.

Assist in the development and dissemination of training materials including the development of online training modules and tutorials.

Participation in public awareness and outreach activities, including development and dissemination of informational resources and brochures, presentations at regional and state conferences, and participation.

Development and maintenance of collaborative relationships with others involved in supporting the improvement of child care programs for the benefit of young children.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master's Degree and 2 years training and development experience in Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, Early Intervention or a related field or Bachelor's Degree and 4 years training and development experience in Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, Early Intervention or a related field.

Certified Trainer and Certified Technical Assistance Provider through the South Carolina Center for Child Care Career Development or have the ability to procure certifications within 3 months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer Master's degree and 3 years/Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Experience in the provision of training to child care providers in topics that address special education methods, curricula, developmental screening and assessment, and early intervention procedures. Knowledge of SC Child Care licensing requirements and ABC standards and awareness of community services for children with developmental delays/disabilities. Knowledge and experience in the use of tools to develop online training/courses/tutorials is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, computer skills that include Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), web-based software applications, the ability to lift 50lbs, and own and operate a reliable vehicle to conduct on-site visits to early childhood programs and hold a valid SC Driver's License with a clean 10 year driving record.
