Nurse Division Charge/UKHC
The Division Charge Nurse (Phase I Research Center Markey Cancer Center Outpatient) will assume responsibility for ensuring excellent patient care is delivered, maintaining expeditious patient flow. Focus will be on customer service, patient care outcomes and shift supervision. The person in this position will direct and lead staff in providing safe, high quality care for patients. Will work in collaboration with the management staff to ensure adherence to hospital policy and procedure, to provide quality patient care in a safe and effective manner, and acts as a resource for staff. Scope of supervision is the adult oncology patient population. The Division Charge Nurse will also explore ways to contain cost and will provide input on staff evaluations. This position has responsibility for administrative, business and operational planning . He/she is intimately involved in the development/implementation/execution of hospital strategic plans.
The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Clinical Services Technicians (CST) and Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. Furthermore, this environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction. The essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push,
and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis and 25-50 pounds frequently; as well
as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may
involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury
from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Must be available to work day shift, 40 hours/week with occasional weekends and holidays.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
BSN plus 2 years of Oncology Experience preferred OCN preferred within a year
