Position Summary:  

Under minimal supervision performs accounting activities that including general ledger account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation. Analyzes and assesses general ledger account activity. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries. Develops and recommends process and procedure changes. Performs internal and external reporting. Serves as lead accountant on day-to-day issues, as well as serving as point of contact with campus and system office, assisting with accounting-related issues.

Job Functions: 

1.Reconciles various balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis; responsible for general ledger accounting, reviewing and monitoring account activity and notifying appropriate area of any needed corrections; prepares journal entries and performs analysis of balance sheet accounts 

2.Responsible for timely submission of financial reports to a variety of internal and external constituents 

3.Translates technical guidance received from regulatory process requirements into usable information applicable to assignments; ensures compliance with LSCS, local, state and federal regulations and policies 

4.Prepares cost allocations and accrual calculations for LSC System’s benefit plans 

5.Reconciles the subsidiary records to the general ledger for assigned accounts 

6.Establishes regular procedures and performs scheduled analysis of assigned general ledger income and expense accounts 

7.Evaluates and assesses impact of changes in procedures and processes required by internal policy changes or external regulators 

8.May prepare audit schedules and provides supporting documentation as required by internal and external auditors 

9.May be responsible for review of assigned budgets, and preparation of budget revisions 

10.May monitor, review and approve Accounts Payable entries submitted by Payroll 

11.Performs analysis of contracts and establishes and maintains processes and procedures to account, bill and report for the funds in compliance with LSCS, local, state and federal regulations and policies 

12.Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned 




Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
