This is a full-time tenure-track joint Assistant Professor position in environmental chemistry split between the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Sustainability (SESES) (51%) and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (CHM) (49%) within the College of Engineering, Forestry, and Natural Sciences. This position will provide the theoretical and technical expertise necessary to educate and guide our students in cutting-edge research in environmental chemistry and could link to related fields of atmospheric chemistry, pollution science, biogeochemistry and environmental toxicology. Serious water, air, and soil concerns about acid mine drainage, surface water contamination from wildfire runoff, and uranium and arsenic contamination on the Colorado Plateau provide local research opportunities to build a strong research program with funding from the NIH, NSF, DoD, DOE, EPA, USGS, and state, local, and tribal municipalities.
