Position Summary

Research Associate position in Ecological-Community Psychology at Michigan State University on Dr.Pennie Foster-Fishman's research team.  The successful candidate will become part of a group of researchers interested in transformative systems change and will be part of a team evaluating a project supporting several communities in pursuing systems change within their local healthcare system.  These efforts focus on social determinants and equity in the context of health outcomes in Michigan.  

The successful candidate will take a significant role in the quantitative portion of the evaluation.  Position will assist with evaluability assessment, evaluation design, data collection, analysis, and report writing.  Oversee and assist with: data collection and processes; data processing; managing data; and database management. Plans and coordinates goals and research projects, performs or assists with research, analyzes data and produces documentation and reports on findings.


Required Degree

Doctorate -Psychology

Minimum Requirements

PhD in public health, public policy, health psychology, community psychology, along with intersectional studies, research, and academic interests in health disparities in the United States; health promotion, intervention or prevention; social determinants of health; and community-level health interventions and policies or related fields will be considered.


Desired Qualifications

  • Strong experience evaluating strategies that use place-based, systems change, or environmental approaches for addressing health disparities, community development, economic equity, or systems of care for children and families
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mixed methods evaluation (i.e., both qualitative and quantitative research skills)
  • Analysis skills, including ability to maintain quality control over the use of computer analysis tools
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Successful experience conducting research or evaluation cross culturally promoting changes in communities and other systems
