Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University is actively involved in a wide range of cancer-related activities, from basic science and clinical research to outstanding patient care and health policy. As a means of maintaining its commitment to expanding its efforts in the fight against cancer.

To achieve these goals, GW leadership has embarked on the creation of the GW Cancer Center (GWCC), which will incorporate all existing cancer-related activities and serve as the platform for future development.
The GW Cancer Center is searching for a full-time Senior Administrative Assistant to provide general administrative support to the Cancer Center Director and serve as the backup support to other members of the leadership team.

• Schedules staff meetings and project meetings, including logistical coordination, room reservations and A/V support when necessary
• Manages IT support coordination and facilities work requests
• Staffs committee meetings as assigned and compile and distribute team progress updates and staff meeting agendas
• Answers GW Cancer Center main phone line and email as needed.
•Processes invoices, travel and expense reimbursements
•Coordinates travel reservations and book/confirm conference registrations
•Ensures equipment is inventoried, accounted for and maintained in working order
•Monitors, procures and organizes office supplies as needed
Provides project and analytical support to Director including assistance with grant submissions.
Works with scientific teams to manage multi-investigator projects.
Works with Laboratory staff of the Director with tasks as needed.
• Serves as the point person for Director's communication, internally to staff and faculty members, and to colleagues and company representatives.
Coordinates,On behalf of the Director, outreach to cancer center members under supervision of leadership to build collaborative research teams across GW
•Gathers information and respond to community or internal marketing/communication inquiries
•Other special projects, including basic desktop research, logistical support, presentation support and small projects
• Communicates information that requires explaining practices, procedures and policies with others outside of the work unit
• Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
