Position Summary: The faculty member will be expected to exercise the leadership and to perform the duties of a faculty member in one of the academic departments associated with Center for Materials for Information Technology (MINT) at the University of Alabama (UA). - The faculty is expected to participate and collaborate with faculty in interdisciplinary research within a culture of collaboration and mutual support at MINT Center. - The faculty will be expected to establish a robust externally funded research program.

Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The Center for Materials for Information Technology (MINT) at the University of Alabama invites applications for one senior faculty position with a specialization in the fields of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials. The MINT Center is an interdisciplinary organization for materials research for information technology. Approximately 40 faculty members from the departments of physics, chemistry, metallurgical and materials engineering, chemical and biological engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and applied mathematics participate in MINT research. Its mission is to perform world-class research in materials and phenomena relevant to information technology, to educate students in the applicable disciplines and to serve as a communication channel for the information technology industry. Applicants should have a commitment to interdisciplinary research in magnetic materials and magnetic devices. A PhD degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, metallurgy, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics or a closely related discipline is required. Successful candidates will be appointed to a tenure-track or tenured position of associate or full professor in one of the participating departments and will be expected to teach and perform the duties of a faculty member in the department. Expertise is especially desired in the field of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials or closely related, with preferred emphasis on nano/atomic scale materials design, fabrication and characterization, nano-device fabrication and materials design.
