Advertised Job Summary
Assist with the pick-up and management of non-hazardous, hazardous, radiological, and
infectious waste. Assist with the development, implementation programs and training for chemical hazard management. This includes instruction and guidance in the proper use and storage of chemicals and compliance with applicable building codes and safety regulations. Assist with the development and implementation of laboratory chemical inventory databases. Conducts safety and compliance inspections, prepares technical reports and performs follow-up inspections. Maintains databases, paper files, and assists laboratory personnel in the mitigation of non-compliance issues identified by department inspectors. Respond to chemical spills and clean-up; to include wearing a respirator. Assist with soap projects. Supports the activities and functions of the EMS for EH&S. Performs other duties as required.
Master's degree in natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering, or related technical field; or Bachelor's degree in related field and 2 years experience in environmental health programs or radiological health, or high school diploma and 6 years related experience.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to interact successfully with management, labor and government officials. Knowledge/experience involving chemical hazards as well as associated environmental and health/safety regulations. Excellent oral and written communication skills related to technical subjects.
