Senior Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Analyst
The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applications for a Senior Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Analyst in the department of Institutional Research. This position is responsible for designing dashboard metrics, reports, performance charts and scorecards for both internal and external publication; to support the institution’s strategic planning, assessment, and accreditation processes. Will assist with the implementation, customization and maintenance of Ellucian’s Recruiting and Admissions Performance (RAP) and Student Retention and Performance packages. Works collaboratively with college community in designing and extracting data and reports from the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Operational Data Store for projects. Develops and delivers appropriate training to end-users to enable them to be self-sufficient in their use of Cognos reporting software; assists users in the interpretation and use of results extracted via reports.
Designs and performs the necessary operational and reconciliation tasks to ensure the quality, security and timeliness of the data in the data warehouse (EDW). Perform data validation to ensure data integrity within the data warehouse; perform data cleansing and correction as required. Assists the Cognos Administrator with the data reporting tool environment and processes, data source extract, transform and load (ETL) design and processes, reporting toolset configuration, implementation, and maintenance. Responsible for using expert-level knowledge of transactional and analytical data and processing to determine data capture and reporting solutions to best meet the College’s goals; which may include complex programming analyses for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.
Must have a Bachelor's degree and professional experience in an internet technology related field. Must be familiar with institutional data and have knowledge of various methods of data extraction, as well as data warehouse systems and accountability systems. Must have a strong background in SQL, Business Intelligence development using Cognos, including Framework Manager, Report Studio and Metric Studio. Must have the ability to analyze data and provide solutions to complex problems. Must be able to interpret the needs and policies of the institution and formulate procedures to effectively present information, both orally, electronic and in writing. Must have the ability to collaborate on a team with infrastructure, data warehouse, and business analyst resources, and clearly communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical team members.
Previous experience with SunGard’s Operational Data Store (ODS) and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) preferred. Previous experience in a higher education institution preferred. Prefer experience with Oracle databases, data warehousing, database schemas design, and metadata management and documentation. Prefer IT development/systems configuration experience.
