The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant, Associate, and/or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of adult and pediatric kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, live donor kidney surgery, and deceased donor procurement. Responsibilities include clinical duties in these areas, with focus on leading a large kidney transplant program; teaching of medical students, surgical residents and transplant fellows; and basic, translational, or clinical research in the noted specialties. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Surgery or hold equivalent international certification.

The successful recruit will serve as Surgical Director of the Kidney Program for the Penn Transplant Institute. Only applicants who have completed an American Society of Transplant Surgeons accredited fellowship will be considered. Those with experience and knowledge in the field of islet transplantation will be preferred, as will those displaying strong experience with and interest in research. Experience with laparoscopic donor nephrectomy is necessary. The clinical practice for this position will be focused at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, with secondary duties at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
