The Jazz/Instrumental Coordinator will coordinate and process all Jazz Department daily operations. Providing daily support to Jazz faculty and students, oversee the Jazz budget, process vendor and guest artist payments, travel arrangements and reimbursements, event and workshop oversight and processes as needed, financial processing through Temple University systems. In addition, the Coordinator will oversee Jazz and Instrumental Ensembles, which include the Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival; Jazz at the Underground, and the Amsterdam Student Exchange program. Coordinates all personnel and operations details for Jazz and Instrumental department large ensemble rehearsals and performances. Provides on-site concert production for symphony orchestra, sinfonia, chamber orchestra, wind symphony, and wind ensemble performances; as well as Jazz performances and sound check/dress rehearsals; be present for orchestra, sinfonia, chamber orchestra, wind symphony and wind ensemble rehearsals; assist Conductors as needed. Monitors attendance as needed for large ensembles. Arranges for space and equipment needs for ensembles, including facilities management moves, student transportation, student meals & etc. Supervises and schedules all student worker staff in Jazz/Instrumental Ensembles Office. Hires additional musicians when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least two years of music ensemble experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Strong oral and written communication skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of administrators, faculty, staff and students.
*Strong interpersonal skills.
*Organizational skills, along with the ability to be detail oriented.
*Ability to multi-task various job duties efficiently with time sensitive timelines.
*Ability to oversee and manage day-to-day office and ensemble environment: Conductors, students and student management, instrument needs, facility needs, musician needs and hires, instrument purchases and repairs, etc.
*Strong presentation skills.
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe, and general financial forms.
*Understanding of event planning, budget, and finance
*Must maintain a positive attitude, with a strong customer service approach. Preferred:
*Administrative support experience in an arts/music related field.
