The Center for Substance Abuse Research (CSAR) (medicine.temple.edu/csar) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University invites applications for a tenure track faculty appointment at the level of Assistant to mid-career Associate Professor.
CSAR has a vibrant, interdisciplinary program of preclinical research focused on understanding the neurobiology of addiction and pain, with the aim of developing improved therapeutics. Aspects of these avenues of investigation include neuronal circuitry; the roles of chemokines, cytokines and glia; receptor expression and signal transduction; and predisposing factors such as stress and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Center faculty members are internationally recognized for research on opioids, cannabinoids, cocaine, and cathinones, as well as drug interactions. The Center holds a P30 Center of Excellence Grant and Training Grant from NIDA (NIH). CSAR faculty have attractive, modern offices and laboratories, and hold primary appointments in various basic science departments in the School of Medicine.
The successful applicant should have a PhD and/or MD, postdoctoral experience, and an active, funded research program in an area that can enhance and complement ongoing research in CSAR. Of particular interest are candidates using cutting-edge technologies to explore mechanisms of pain or addiction, particularly as related to opioids.
