The Communication Department is home to numerous faculty and staff members dedicated to providing students with engaging and meaningful classes. Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
- Primary teaching responsibility is a variety of basic and specialty public relations courses with an emphasis in PR writing & research, as well as other communication courses as needed.
- Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
- Provide academic advisement to students;
- Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
- Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
- Ability to effectively fulfill the above Key Responsibilities;
- PhD or MS/MA with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the discipline;
- Teaching or work experience in public relations;
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
- Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.
- PhD in public relations from an accredited institution;
- Demonstrated proficiency in teaching at the college level or its equivalent;
- Two (2) or more years of successful professional experience in the public relations industry is highly desirable;
- Evidenced experience with public relations writing and campaigns;
- Experience with instructional technology;
- Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement;
- Evidence of higher-ed teaching experience.
This is a full-time, term appointed, tenure track position beginning August 20, 2018.
