Job Summary

The Accounts Specialist III is mainly responsible for providing a broad range of general duties in accounting, cash management and customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Answers all daily phone calls
•Assists vendors with payment inquiries
•Investigates and resolves student refund issues
•Researches employee payment inquiries
•Answers student questions regarding the MDC OneCard
•Prepares daily journal entries
•Performs bank reconciliations
•Assists in miscellaneous department functions as needed
•Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

•High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of successful accounting experience; or Associate's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
•Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and the ability to apply this knowledge to work situations
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency in using word processing and spreadsheets
•Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations concerning financial record keeping
•Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting statements
•Ability to maintain complex records, to assemble and organize data
•Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
•Ability to speak effectively to provide customer service to students, employees or organizations
•Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
•Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
