Job Summary The primary responsibilities of the Academic Advisor I are to meet with assigned students, provide each student with accurate information about the student's intended degree program, make recommendations about course selection for upcoming semesters, generate advising forms detailing these recommendations, and maintain notes about these meetings. Advisors also assist students with referrals to departments within Franklin, other colleges at UGA, study abroad programs, tutoring and other forms of academic assistance, etc. Advisors are expected to be able to address ? by themselves or through referrals -- a wide variety of questions regarding various aspects of a student's personal, professional, and academic development during their time in college. An Advisor I must maintain consistent contact with their students, maintain accurate student records, and respond in a timely manner to questions from their students. Regular attendance at staff meetings and workshops is an expected part of the position. Advisors should be available to work throughout June, July, and early August at orientation sessions for incoming freshmen and transfers. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment and one year of administrative and appropriate program experience; OR five years of progressively responsible work in this area; OR any combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
