Position Summary: The Department of Geography at The University of Alabama seeks to hire a tenured professor who will support the continued expansion of our Department including the implementation of our new Ph.D. program.

The University of Alabama, Department of Geography seeks a new colleague with research expertise in Climate Modeling, starting August 16, 2018 at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with tenure. This search is part of an effort to grow our department in support of our new Ph.D. program in Geography (launched in fall 2017) and elevate the University of Alabama's visibility and impact in water-related climate research including the production, analysis, and interpretation of data from down-scaled (primarily) climate models, particularly concerning hydroclimatology, precipitation, flood or drought modeling. The ideal candidate's professional accomplishments include sustained success securing external funding, a nationally/internationally recognized profile, and a solid track record of successful graduate student recruitment and mentoring. We seek a scholar who can advance the mission of the newly-formed Alabama Water Institute with research aligned with the strategic vision of NOAA's National Water Center, located on the UA campus. Candidates with research interests that also complement the University's designation as a National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Center of Academic Excellence in Geospatial Sciences and one or more of the department's broader research foci, including water resources, human-environment systems, environmental management and change, and human impacts on the environment (see http://geography.ua.edu/), are particularly encouraged to apply.
