Position Summary: Tenure-track faculty position in the area of water quantity, to emphasize efforts focused on water quantity challenges that impact human lives (specifically flood and drought events).
Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position consistent with building upon and expanding the strengths of our faculty (http://cce.eng.ua.edu/). Candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor commensurate with experience and qualifications. The department wishes to emphasize efforts focused on water quantity challenges that impact human lives, specifically flood and drought events. Therefore, candidates with experience in applying physically based distributed models, integrating with researchers in computer science and remote sensing, would be preferred. The candidate is expected to engage with researchers across the UA campus to develop multi-disciplinary research targeting opportunities with the NOAA National Water Center (currently located on the campus of the University of Alabama), the US Army Corps of Engineers (located in nearby Vicksburg, MS), the National Science Foundation and other federal and state agencies. The development of multi-institutional proposals, working with universities both nationally and internationally is also expected. Research areas of particular interest include computational hydrology, statistically based modeling, paleo-hydrology, data mining and management of "big" data, and integration of remote sensed data. The department benefits from the College and University's expansion in enrollment and facilities including completion of the $300 MM Engineering and Science Complex in 2013.
