Position Summary: Tenure-track faculty position with expectations that the individual will engage in research activities including publications, mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, securing external funds for his/her research program as well as contribute to the University's teaching and service missions.

Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The Department of Computer Science at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level to begin either January or August 2018. Successful applicants must show the potential to establish a quality research program, collaborate effectively with other faculty, and excel in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, candidates will be expected to engage with faculty and researchers in the Alabama Water Institute ( Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, management and manipulation of large sensor data sets, real-time (and near real-time) data processing, resource constrained data collection and analysis, high performance computing, big data, and robotics command-and-control. An ability to contribute in an interdisciplinary engineering environment is a must. Located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the University of Alabama enrolls over 37,000 students and is the capstone of higher education in the state. Housed in the College of Engineering, the Computer Science Department has 22 faculty members (16 tenured/tenure-track faculty), roughly 700 undergraduates and approximately 50 graduate students. The Department has produced 33 doctoral graduates in the last five years and is funded by agencies such as NSF, Google, Departments of Education and Commerce, various Defense agencies, multiple State agencies, and other sponsors. In 2013, the College completed construction of a $300M Shelby Engineering and Science Complex.
