Communications Manager I
Serves as the Digital Strategist and will be responsible for helping develop and advance digital marketing and communication efforts for the MSU Office of Admissions (OA); will support OA marketing initiatives throughout the recruitment cycle, including analyzing data from web analytics, social media analytics, e-mail campaign analytics, paid advertising analytics, market research initiatives and other data sources to provide clarity and understanding about audiences and to assess communications performance. This position will also update and maintain our website; implement new marketing initiatives like search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), IP targeting and data analysis to advance overall strategic recruitment initiatives. Will work closely with OA’s Director of Marketing and Communications and Director of Technology on strategic content updates, digital/online advertising opportunities, development of microsites, designing HTML email templates, and deploying digital initiatives to support overall enrollment marketing goals and objectives.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Journalism, Telecommunications, or Public Relations; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations, composing, editing and publication production; news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology; may require supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired Qualifications
Deep understanding of current and future digital trends across all platforms with an aptitude for understanding technical subject matters. Self-starter and self-motivated; experience writing e-communications; experience with Cascade CMS and Slate CRM; experience leading focus groups. Admissions or Higher Education industry knowledge a plus.
