  Position Information  

This position is in the Management Personnel Plan (Administrator I) and earns management benefits including medical, dental, vision, $100,000 life insurance plan, and the CalPERS pension plan.  For more information on benefits included for this position, please see the benefits summary.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, at will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs.

The Assistant Director will oversee all aspects of services and functions related to the scheduling and operation of meetings and events in Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center (PPGAC) facility.  The Assistant Director will ensure management of center operations including but not limited to policy development, scheduling, audiovisual services, room setup, event staffing, security and crowd control.  In conjunction with appropriate campus departments and personnel, the Assistant Director is responsible for the building’s emergency preparedness program, and for monitoring Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) for the facility.

Minimum Qualifications 

Four year baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of progressively responsible experience in building management and maintenance, event planning, event management and special events, and supervision of staff. Experience working with professional quality audiovisual equipment including sound systems, theatrical lighting, projection equipment, basic computer interfaces and related accessories required.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Minimum three to five years full-time professional experience in management and operation of a similar higher education facility experience preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in formulating, analyzing and managing budget revenue and expenditures preferred.

  • Experience with reservations software, diagramming software, PowerPoint, and databases preferred.
