We are currently seeking a Energy Manager Facilities who will advance the institution's proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.

Your mission: We'll rely on you to provide and direct a complete program of energy management that will reduce downtime and operating costs and increase the safety and attractiveness of campuses and facilities across the HCC System.




SUMMARY

Develops and implements practices and procedures designed to reduce energy consumption and/or improve efficiency of energy usage. Provide direction for a team that performs Building Automation/HVAC "controls" for day to day operation, maintenance and repairs for approximately 5M square feet of usable space.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Monitor energy usage of the HCC system;
  2. Proactively organize the coordination of systematic energy conservation;
  3. Implement an effective energy cost control program;
  4. Examine patters of energy usage system-wide and report to executive team;
  5. Manage building schedules for access control, HVAC and lighting;
  6. Manage, coordinate, and initiate communication to all relevant facility, campus and departmental personnel when events occur that may affect building functionality/operation such as power outage, gas leaks, alarms etc.;
  7. Serve as contact for HCC power profiles "energy management server" for tenant billing;
  8. Oversee HCC work order tracking system;
  9. Oversee server for building automation;
  10. Establish and maintain energy benchmarks and goals for the HCC system;
  11. Conduct energy efficiency training and communications;
  12. Create carbon footprint reduction initiatives and strategies;
  13. Conduct market research for new technologies and best practices;
  14. Provide reports from the Continuum database monthly and/or as needed;
  15. Manage building schedules for HVAC, lighting and access control;
  16. Ensure compliance of all Code required inspections are performed;
  17. Involved in the continuous monitoring and improvement of facility energy performance;
  18. Coordination of recording and forecasting energy usage data;
  19. Develop and promote energy conservation best practices for the HCC system;
  20. Develop and draft proposals for energy efficiency projects for approval;
  21. Coordinate energy management plans, projects and targets;
  22. Assist in ensuring conservation projects are completed in a timely, quality and accurate manner; and
  23. Ensure all local, state, and federal compliance requirements are followed/ achieved in regards to energy projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science degree in related technical field required. A High School Diploma / GED plus (4) years related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years of experience in energy management, low voltage electronic and Access Control Automation & HVAC Automation systems required.

Prior higher education work experience. (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Excellent knowledge of Building Automation;
  2. Strong, technical, research and interpersonal skills;
  3. Excellent communication skills;
  4. May be required to work from a lift or boom;
  5. Works on carpeted, concrete, vinyl and tile floors;
  6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds in a working environment and carry some reasonable distance;
  7. Must have the ability to remain calm in a stressful and/or emergency situation that may arise within the facility;
  8. Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as needed;
  9. Must be willing to work off normal hours when needed;
  10. Must be willing to participate in an on call rotation;
  11. Excellent data analysis skills;
  12. Shall have experience auditing / managing computerized energy management systems;
  13. Display familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental legislation;
  14. Ability to manage multiple projects;
  15. Display proven team management experience; and
  16. Ability to respond effectively to reported concerns throughout the college system.
