Job Summary


The Grant Director is responsible for the organization, management, planning, implementation, continuous review, and analysis of the Upward Bound Grant, which is designed to help low-income students achieve high school graduation and postsecondary success. The position provides academic leadership, serves as integral member of the College and various campus administrative teams, and works closely with Student Services Directors, Department Chairs, Associate Deans, Academic Deans, Campus Presidents and grant partners. Temporary Position. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Facilitates the development and implementation of all aspects of the grant
  • Administers and manages the Upward Bound Grant, in accordance with College policy and in compliance with requirements and regulations of the funding agency
  • Directs and implements timely implementation strategies to achieve Upward Bound goals and objectives
  • Communicates grant goals to the College/Campus community, campus administrators, faculty and students; ensures widespread dissemination of grant information to potential participants
  • Develops and implements continual assessment plans to ensure monitoring of grant goals and objectives and student performances
  • Collaborates with the Student Services and/or Academic Affairs to oversee the participation and success of grant activities
  • Acts as a spokesperson for the grant when working with superintendents and boards of education and target school principals
  • Establishes and fosters working relationships with target school administrative personnel
  • Collaborates with social agencies and community organizations for program awareness and recruitment assistance
  • Plans and implements Upward Bound grant activities and operations with other campuses
  • Represents Upward Bound projects at local, regional, and/or national conferences or workshops to enhance professional expertise essential to program development
  • Hires, supervises, and evaluates both full-time and part-time staff for the program
  • Serves on campus and College-wide committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Master's degree in education, psychology or related field and (3) three years of experience in grant management and working with or advising at-risk college students; or Bachelor's degree in education, psychology or related field and (7) seven years of experience in grant management and working with or advising at-risk college students
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and
  • procedures
  • Knowledge of grant management including budget, personnel management and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups of administrators, faculty, students and the community
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data for the purpose of reporting, while maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for reporting purposes, while maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
