The Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto invites applicants for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Associate Professor in the area of Indigenous Child Welfare. The appointment will begin July 1, 2018.

The successful candidate will also be eligible to be named the Factor-Inwentash Chair in Child Welfare. The Chair appointment will be for a 5 year term and is renewable following a favorable review.

Candidates must have a PhD in social work or a related field by the time of appointment and must have at least 5 years of experience in a University setting. They are expected to have an established program of research and experience especially focused in practice with Indigenous communities and organizations; candidates with research in direct practice, policy and/or community engagement may also be considered. We are seeking candidates who have experience of and engagement with the Indigenous peoples in Canada, with a focus in Indigenous Child Welfare.

The successful candidate must provide evidence of excellence in research as evidenced by an active research program that contributes especially to social work practice and policy; an established reputation in research with demonstrated ability to attract external research funding; a publication record in high quality peer reviewed journals, an output of research that is at high international levels and strong endorsements by referees of high international standing, as well as social work practice experience. Evidence of excellence in teaching, as demonstrated by a teaching dossier outlining experience and accomplishments, a teaching statement and strong letters of reference, is also required. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
