Neelanjan Mukherjee's lab on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is looking for a highly motivated professional to work on the molecular mechanisms of pathophysiological changes in RNA regulatory networks. The Mukherjee lab employs both experimental and computational approaches to quantify the rates of RNA metabolism and dysregulated RNAs in human models of steroidogenesis and cancer. Responsibilities will include lab management and experimental methods to quantify the fate of RNAs in the cell. The techniques utilized include standard molecular biology/biochemisty (westerns, immunoprecipitation, qRT-PCR), gene loss-of-function assays (CRISPR, shRNA), and transcriptome-wide methods to study specific aspects of RNA regulation. See for details of the lab and send inquiries laying out specific research interests and enthusiasm for the position to

The PRA will also play a role in managing the daily operation of the laboratory. This will include ordering supplies, preparing stock reagents, and maintaining equipment. The PRA will also be responsible for updating and maintaining laboratory databases, e.g. inventory management, and assistance of safety and regulatory compliance with the PI.

Current research assistants or recent college graduates will be considered. Recent graduates looking for additional research experience before applying to graduate school are welcome. A minimum of approximately two year commitment is required, though longer is strongly preferred. Alternatively, those looking for a longer-term or permanent staff position are also welcome to apply.

Professional Field:

Molecular Biology and Computational Biology

Supervision Received:

This position will report directly to Dr. Mukherjee who will provide constructive feedback and necessary training.

Supervision Exercised:

The person in this position will be asked to pass on training that they have received relevant to their work to students, postdoctoral fellows, and other research assistants that may join Dr. Mukherjee's laboratory.

Examples of Work Performed:

Mammalian tissue culture; cloning; CRISPR-based genome editing; immunoprecipitation; genomic assays and analysis; laboratory management

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Applicant must be highly motivated and exhibit excellent attention to details. Ability to organize and present data generated during experiments is required. Knowledge in molecular biology with a focus on RNA and/or RNA-binding proteins; experience with mammalian tissue culture; additional background in CRISPR-based genome editing is strongly preferred; demonstrated creative problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical hurdles.

Research Performed:

This position will use a combination of biochemistry and cell culture work to study mechanisms of RNA-binding protein and noncoding RNA-mediated molecular mechanisms related to disease.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $35,000 to $55,000 per annum, depending on experience and abilities. The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Information on University benefits programs, including eligibility, is located at Employee Services.
