Job Summary/Basic Function: Under general supervision of the Director of Center for Academic Innovation, the Senior Instructional Designer will design, develop and implement learning design strategy by applying their knowledge of best practices in pedagogy and learning design in the development of hybrid/hyflex, online, and face-to-face instruction. The position is expected to explore emerging pedagogically innovative teaching methods, to design and conduct student-centered, pedagogy/andragogy-based trainings for A&M-SA faculty. Major responsibilities include collaborating with subject matter experts to plan and manage the design and development of new courses; following quality assurance frameworks and best practices in course design and revision; and creating training programs and workshops to improve instruction and encourage the use of academic technologies, including e-portfolios.
Work Hours: Typically works Monday-Friday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. May work beyond normal office hours and weekends.

Designs, develops, publishes and maintains instructor-led training programs and implements current best practices in instructional design to create effective, interactive learning experiences for a diverse, but focused library of courses and programs.
Works with our internal academic, student support, and technology teams to design and build innovative, student-centered, adaptive, high-quality online, hybrid/hyflex, and face-to-face courses and programs.
Evaluates and incorporates effective educational resources, including e-portfolios, social learning activities, problem-based learning, game-based learning, and adaptive learning as appropriate. Plans and manages projects to introduce faculty to emerging technologies and pedagogical practices.
Work with faculty to apply principles of instructional design an integrate appropriate technologies to create pedagogically/andragogically innovative teaching methods for undergraduate and graduate courses.
Identifies, pilots and implements emerging innovative teaching methods and technologies to achieve student learning outcomes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Instructional Design or closely related field.
Necessary Qualifications: Five years of related experience in technologically-oriented training, support, and consultation, including two years of online teaching experience and course design/development and related supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with non-traditional student populations; demonstrated with use of eLearning authoring tools (in particular, Storyline, Articulate 360, Camtasia and basic awareness of video production); experience working inclusive pedagogy and universal design; experience in organizing workshops and in making connections between teaching and learning; experience with curriculum development.
