Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Engineering Technology in the College of Engineering at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a full-time, academic-year, non-tenure track Lecturer position in the area of Construction Engineering Technology and Management starting as early as Spring 2018. Candidates with significant teaching and industrial experiences can be considered for a senior lecturer position. The successful individual will have unique opportunities to participate in the continuing growth of the program by developing collaborative initiatives with university wide constituents, recruiting from regional educational institutions, engaging with the program Industry Advisory Board, and contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching and to the continuous improvement and outcome-based assessment of the program to maintain ETAC/ABET accreditation. Student enrollment in the program has grown by over 70% in the last three years and is expected to continue to grow. The Department is unique in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and it currently serves about 500 students pursuing BSET degrees in Construction, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering Technology, as well as the M.S. in Engineering Technology with concentrations in Construction Management, Engineering Management, Electrical Systems and Mechanical Systems. Faculty also regularly contribute to Ph.D. programs offered in the College of Engineering and are responsible for over $500K in externally funded annual expenses. Candidates are required to have 1) undergraduate and Master's degrees in Construction/Civil Engineering/Engineering Technology or closely related fields at the time of appointment; 2) relevant professional experience in residential and/or commercial construction; 3) college-level teaching experience in the relevant fields; and 4) excellent written and oral communication skills.
Candidates holding a PhD in a closely related field with teaching and/or research interests in the areas of construction sustainability, renewable energy, building information modeling, risk analysis, and construction innovations are especially encouraged to apply. Professional licensure or the ability to become licensed is highly desired.
