The Department of Biological Sciences emphasizes cell and molecular biology, ecology and evolutionary biology. Biological sciences maintains one of the largest undergraduate majors in the university. Summary of Job Duties

The Alverson Lab at the University of Arkansas is recruiting for a Post-Doctoral Fellow, who will work on a project on the evolutionary genomics of marine-freshwater transitions in diatoms. The project combines genomics and experimental transcriptomics to address basic questions about the rate and mode of adaptation across multiple evolutionary timescales. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will also be encouraged to develop and pursue other lines of related research questions in this system. This position will perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related field conferred by the start of employment
  • Demonstrated record of research accomplishments
  • Demonstrated proficiency in R and/ another programming language
  • Knowledge and experience with phylogenetics and comparative biology
  • Basic skills/experience in molecular biology
