Vice President for Academic Programs
The Appalachian College Association (ACA) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Academic Programs. The ACA’s new strategic focus highlights the role of the organization to enhance and support both its 35-member institutions and their home communities. We seek a colleague who will be an enthusiastic and creative partner as we both continue and expand our work.
The Vice President for Academic Programs will:
- Serve as the academic leader and facilitator of ACA programs and initiatives regarding student learning and faculty and staff development
- Provide initiative and expert support to the Council of Chief Academic Officers to manage and enhance ACA’s academic programs
- Design, implement, assess, and oversee new opportunities for collaborative academic programs among member institutions related to student learning, faculty and staff development, and/or community outreach
- Collaborate with the ACA President to establish new partnerships and/or funding partners, in alignment with ACA’s mission and strategic focus.
The ideal candidate will have an appreciation of the richness and diversity of the Appalachian region, and of the critical role played by higher education in the communities of that region. A terminal degree, exceptional communication skills, and higher education leadership experience in an academic setting are required. Desired attributes include an understanding of the contemporary higher education landscape, demonstrated success with grant writing and grant management, experience with inter-institutional collaboration, and familiarity with community-engaged learning programs.
