Associate Vice President of Auxiliary Services

Reporting to the Vice President for Auxiliary Services, the Associate Vice President of Auxiliary Services (AVP) provides leadership, direction, and oversight to a diverse group of revenue‐generating auxiliary units that support student life and academic activities with an emphasis on ensuring excellent customer service while optimizing revenue and operating margin contributions. Units reporting to the Associate Vice President include Undergraduate Student Housing, Residential and Retail Dining Services, Terrier ID Card, Vending and Collegiate Licensing. The AVP is responsible for coordinating budget development and monitoring revenue/expense activity; dashboard reporting; policy development/implementation; business planning; diversity initiatives; capital investment planning; project management; and process improvement efforts. The supervised departments employ over 850 full- and part-time employees with annual revenue that exceeds $200 million.
A bachelor’s degree and a record of progressively increasing responsibilities that includes at least 10 years of experience in directly managing large, complex, high volume auxiliary enterprises in higher education with demonstrated successful outcomes are required. An advanced degree in business, accounting, retail management, higher education, or a directly-related field and demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing multi-million dollar housing, dining, vending, pouring rights, and retail contracts are preferred. The successful candidate will possess an understanding of a variety of business models; an understanding of decentralized budget and financial systems that are associated with each business model; extensive knowledge of campus dining and residential life/housing key performance indicators; the ability to promote excellent interpersonal relationships; experience briefing senior leadership, media, students, and the academic community; and strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
