Position Description: The Department of Respiratory Care at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor rank for a nine-month appointment with possible summer employment annually. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction. Areas of expertise include: anatomy & physiology, ECG & CXR interpretation, pharmacology, pulmonary pathology, neo/pediatric care, critical care, ventilator management/airway management, pulmonary rehabilitation, PFT testing, polysomnography, web-based and traditional teaching, and evidence-based respiratory care practice with documentation of recent clinical proficiency. Teaching, scholarly and service activities are required for this tenure-track position. Opportunities for supervision of student research and collaborative research exist. Position will require teaching on the San Marcos campus Spring 2018 and then on the Texas State University Round Rock campus thereafter.

Required Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in Respiratory Care or a related field.
2. Minimum of three years experience in respiratory care.
3. Recent didactic and/or clinical teaching experience in respiratory care.
4. Eligible for RCP licensure in Texas.
5. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
6. Record of accomplishments in scholarship, teaching, and service, appropriate for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (less than five years teaching), Associate Professor (minimum five years teaching), or Professor (minimum of ten years teaching).
7. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department standards.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Earned doctorate in a related field.
2. Clinical specialization, expertise, credentials in recognized areas of critical care, pediatric/neonatal, asthma education, pulmonary rehab, PFT/diagnostics, polysomnography or other recognized areas.
3. On-line/web-based course preparation expertise.
4. Professional membership with service in healthcare organizations.
