The University of North Alabama invites applications for one position for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Counselor Education to begin in the Fall of 2018. This position will teach Master’s level core counseling courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling Programs. Possible courses include assessment, career, contemporary practices, crisis intervention, ethics and professional identity, social and cultural foundations, research, family, and/or addictions. Courses are offered weekdays during the late afternoon and evening, primarily in a traditional format, and summer teaching is typically available. Rank will be based on prior degree, clinical and teaching experience, demonstrated scholarly performance, and professional activity.  Initial review of applicants will begin on October 19, 2017 and continue until the position is filled.

Qualifications include: An earned doctorate in Counselor Education is required, preferably from a CACREP-accredited institution; Experience in the area of clinical mental health counseling required; current licensure in, or the eligibility to be licensed as, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama preferred; National Certified Counselor designation preferred; Professional identity as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor required; College/university teaching experience preferred; Experience in curriculum development, accreditation, and/or program planning is preferred.
