Job Summary and Requirements: Position Title: Global Commerce Faculty Position, Open Rank (Denison University) Position Description: The Global Commerce program at Denison University invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor or senior level beginning in Fall 2018. Denison, located just 30 miles from the Columbus, OH, metropolitan area, is an increasingly diverse, highly-selective, residential liberal arts college enrolling approximately 2200 students from across the nation and around the world. Global Commerce is a new interdisciplinary, humanities-grounded major that seeks to cultivate a breadth of understanding of the variety of factors;including economic, historical, and cultural;that shape the exchange of goods, services, ideas, and currencies; the development of institutional cultures; and the standards of ethical leadership in global commercial relationships. Applicants must have superior teaching skills, a commitment to a liberal arts approach to education, and the desire to foster the growth of this new program. Field of specialization is open, but research and teaching experience must be related to the structures and strategies of global for-profit and/or non-profit organizations. Teaching responsibilities will include helping to develop and teach the second-year course in the major, Elements of Commerce, which explores connections among organizational cultures, accounting principles, and ethical business practices in global contexts. The candidate will also be expected to teach other topical courses investigating the structures, strategies, and contexts of global business organizations and NGOs. Candidates must have an active research agenda related to global commerce. We are looking for a versatile colleague who appreciates the interdisciplinary nature of a small residential, undergraduate, liberal arts institution and exhibits the desire to explore the practical applications of liberal arts education. Denison has a 3/2 teaching load.  We will begin reviewing applications on November 15, 2017, and will continue to accept applications until the position is filled. We will conduct Skype interviews with prospective candidates in early January 2018.
