Job Description


1.1 The purpose of this job description is to establish and define the authority, accountability, reporting relationships, responsibilities, duties, and measures of performance of the Project Manager of Simile Construction Service, Inc.


2.1 To master and direct all elements of assigned projects in such a manner as to ensure quality, accurate, timely and profitable completion of project consistent with agreed to budget and timelines; in accordance with company policies and procedures.

2.2 To serve as the primary contact with Owners and continually foster a positive relationship with all parties involved.

2.3 To generate schedules, work authorizations for subcontracts, RFI's, and change orders.

2.4 To oversee medium to large sized projects from project conception through closeout.

2.5 To deliver the construction project to the owner in a timely manner, within budget, while maintaining a high degree of quality and professionalism and maintenance of all company policies, rules, and procedures.

2.6 Identify potential exposure and/or risk involved within the project.


3.1 The Project Manager reports directly to the Division Manager..

3.2 The following positions may report directly to the Project Manager:

3.2.1 Assistant Project Manager

3.2.2 Project Superintendent

3.2.3 Assigned Project Engineer

3.2.4 Assigned Project Assistant

4.1.1 Bachelor degree in Construction Management or equivalent.

4.1.2 A minimum of five years experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


4.2.1 Must have a working knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction of commercial buildings.

4.2.2 Knowledge of creating succinct and clear presentations, especially pertaining to construction estimates, schedules and services.

4.2.3 Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

4.2.4 Knowledge of principles and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

4.2.5 Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.

4.2.6 Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving with approach that provides multiple solutions as may be available given the situation.

4.2.7 Demonstrated personal responsibility and follow-through to ensure project success.

4.2.8 Analytical, well organized, people oriented, personable, professional, goal setter with ability to demonstrate team building, leadership, an mentoring skills.

4.2.9 Computer skill requirements include: MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, Project Scheduling, Accounting and Document Control Systems. Should add Adobe here as well. (Powerpoint is probably a non-essential).

4.2.10 Knowledge of relevant Public Safety and Security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

Able to read plans and specifications, management skills, delegation and supervisory abilities, communication skills, both verbal and written.
