ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, CLINICAL IT

This is a key senior level IT leadership position responsible for planning, coordinating and managing all activities related to application/solution design, configuration, development, delivery and support for all DCRI Clinical Operations functions (Mega Trials, Clinical Operations, HSR (Pragmatic, Outcomes) and future areas such as Virtual Trials/Clinical mobile). This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her team to a Center of Excellence (CoE) in a mixed SaaS and hosted environment.
Application Configuration, Development & Support: Manage and provide direction for the application development team in support of Clinical Operations. Manage and provide direction for the design, configuration and development of new solutions,enhancements and upgrades to application software. Provide senior level technical leadership to project managers and programmers working on development teams.
Cultivate, disseminate, and enforce functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices. Implement and manage L2/L3 support that meets or exceeds the required service levels. Innovation Stay abreast of industry changes in back office services for Clinical Trial Research and continually review/analyze new application solutions in support of future changes. Share and adopt best practices from other Duke entities (DHTS/ORI/Univ) external partners and stakeholders.
Enhance business innovation by enlightening the business of new system capabilities, tools and methods in support of business operations, strategy & planning. Evaluate business requests for scoping, risk, approach, priority and make recommendations to project review board. Work with IT Product Managers to analyze existing application effectiveness, efficiency, usage to implement programs that will increase system ROI. Develop and maintain a 3-year strategic road map for the entire application portfolio. System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Implement, support and sustain the approved SDLC ensuring correct use of risk based development practices. Demonstrate efficient delivery cycle times with a goal of continuous cycle time reductions.
Assure all system testing and validation is completed ensuring high quality while minimizing risk. Application Operation Services (AOS)Design, build, deploy and manage a world-class AOS team focused on operations task related to application support. Implement, maintain, monitor and ensure release/change management across all Technology & Data Solutions depts., external service providers and partners via world-class change control function Implement and maintain application-monitoring service for all Tier 1 & Tier 2 applications that proactively notify of application level service issues. Manage all application enabling technologies/services such as certificates and domain names.
Partner with Product Owners (PO)/Service Desk/Application leaders to ensure smooth delivery ofL1/L2/L3 application break-fix support services. Partner with Vendor Management Outsourcing (VMO) with establishing and testing of application centric Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning artifacts and exercises.
Partner with CIT/BIT/D2V to manage, implement and maintain all middleware services across.Other Duties: Participate in Technology & Data Solutions Strategic planning. Participate in IT, Technology & Data Solutions and business operating team meetings Take ownership and drive assigned programs & projects outside of responsible area. Drive change within IT & DCRI in line with mission, vision, values and goals. Perform other related duties not explicitly described herein.
Partner with Knowledge Management, Compliance, and Operational Excellence support teams to ensure Clinical IT solutions are validated and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline.(Masters preferred) Program Management Experience:8+ year's management experience in application development 3+ years' experience supporting all or major portions of Lead to Cash value stream 3+ year's senior level developer experience with SFDC3 + Life Science experience (CRO preferred) Relationship management experience with business leaders.OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: SFDC certification or badges Agile/scrum knowledge Modern dev/ops processes such as continuous testing, integration and validation.
