The Administrative Specialist I works under general supervision and is responsible for examining and verifying documents, preparing routine correspondence, and maintaining files. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Administrative Specialist I provides support to Compliance and the Academic Success Center for Student Athletes and Coaches.
This individual types and proofreads various documents including letters, memoranda, reports, forms, narratives, and training materials, acts as office receptionist by greeting and directing visitors, screening calls, and providing general information and assistance, and opens, sorts, and distributes mail.
In addition, the Administrative Specialist I will maintain various computerized and paper files, records and logs, and retrieves information upon request, schedule appointments, make travel arrangements, and maintain calendars for supervisor and staff, inventory and order supplies, and post entries to ledgers and journals to account for expenditures or receipts.
Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge of record keeping procedures, basic arithmetic, basic grammar, and computers and software applications.
Ability to conduct research and compile data into report form, establish and maintain filing systems, operate standard office equipment, analyze documents to determine compliance with rules, regulations, and procedures, and communicate both orally and in writing.
8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Availability to work after hours or weekends as requested

The Administrative Specialist I has regular contact with department staff, other state agency/institution personnel, clients/students, personnel of regulated entities, and the general public.
The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma.
Other job related Education and/or Experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval or the qualifications review committee.
