Associate Director, Undergraduate Admission
Summary of the Position
This position participates in recruiting, attracting, and enrolling new undergraduate students to the university and therefore is important in achieving the institution's goal of educating students for the world of work and life. The chief purpose for this position is to recruit, attract and enroll new students to the university with a focus on transfer students for January and September admission by providing advice and information to various external constituencies. Responsibilities include completing transfer/advanced standing credits evaluations, rendering decisions on admission applications, interviewing students, traveling to target areas to recruit students, organizing events and participating in other marketing development activities (i.e. web content targeted for transfers, communication sequence, etc.).
Identify and recruit in key domestic institutions and potential international countries to build upon our transfer populations. This includes travel and market Bentley University at college fairs and other educational forums providing public presentations to individuals and groups; interview prospective students on and off campus; follow up with written, telephone and email contact with students, parents and advisors. Coordinate on-campus Transfer recruitment (i.e. information sessions) and yield events. Develop and evaluate strategy for individually assigned geographic recruitment regions. Participate in admission events both on and off campus.
Complete Transfer Credit Evaluations for prospective students by assessing course descriptions/content from US and international institutions to determine eligibility for Transfer credit. In addition, determine advanced standing Credit for incoming freshmen and disseminate information to prospective students in a timely manner.
Manage the development and execution of the Transfer recruit and yield strategy by researching trends and exploring new opportunities that positively impact recruit and yield activities for each incoming class. This would include on-going review and editing of, web content and communication sequence content to reflect current trends and yearly strategies. Consideration shall be given to other media tools such as social media, web chats etc.
Review admission applications, render decisions and participate in entire file review and scholarship selection processes. Provide customer service in the pre and post admission process to students, parents and counselors/academic advisors. Serve as Officer-of-the-Day to assist in smooth daily office operation.
Minimum Qualifications(Education and Experience Requirements)
Education: MA/MS degree or the equivalent plus 3-5 years of related experience; Master's degree is preferred or BA/BS degree or the equivalent combination of training and experience plus 5+ years of related experience.Would consider candidates with 2+ years of experience plus and BA/BS as a Sr. Assistant Director. Skills: Demonstrated organizational, managerial, leadership and communication skills. Commitment to working with staff and students with diverse backgrounds. An understanding of enrollment management issues. Proven commitment to technological advancement in approach to work and staff development. Ability to handle multiple tasks under time constraints and pressure. Skills: Organizational and analytical abilities, solid communication skills, computer competency, ability to handle multiple tasks and belief in the value of a higher education and the capacity to articulate those benefits to the public. Ability and sensitivity in dealing with diverse populations.
Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver's license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley's insurance carrier.
Preference will be given to those with transfer admission experience. Knowledge of various student information systems/databases a plus.
Physical skills required of this position include an alertness in dealing with technical issues, accuracy in processing large volumes of paperwork and maintaining focus during frequent interruptions. Energy level is important and long hours in and outside the office (while traveling) contribute to physical and mental exhaustion which affects judgment, attitude and accuracy. Recruiting events require lifting and carrying heavy boxes as well as standing for long periods of time.
