Position Summary: The Kenan-Flagler Business School, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks to fill the position of Director of Facilities. The position is a member of the School's senior management team, and has decision making and budgetary responsibility over capital projects, multiple buildings, and complex contracts with external vendors. The incumbent provides senior management and administrative leadership, and serves as a key advisor to the School's leadership team. The incumbent will coordinate and work cooperatively with all central university offices, including Facilities Services. The position reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Operations and Finance. Remaining competitive is essential to the business school's success and the ability to attract top faculty and students. The condition of facilities, and facilities offered, are key toward remaining competitive. The Director ensures that Kenan-Flagler's portfolio of facilities consistently and positively represents the School's brand and position. The School anticipates continued growth in programs, faculty and staff, while being at capacity in all of its buildings. This position will play a key role in developing long range space-planning strategies and implementation of such plan. Kenan-Flagler operates 520,000 square foot of space, including leased space in two locations, a small conference center on campus, and a large off- campus conference center. Degree programs are delivered year round, including day, weekend, and evening programs, and buildings are open 24-hours per day. Kenan-Flagler's main building, McColl, includes 210,000 square feet of space, including 19 classrooms, faculty/staff office space for 200, an IT helpdesk, student study spaces, meeting rooms, an auditorium, and a full service cafeteria. The 60,000 square foot Kenan Conference Center includes conference space, office, and meeting space. The Rizzo Center, comprised of 246,800 square feet on 28 acres, includes a 183 room residence center, two full-service restaurants, offices, 12 classrooms, a historic home, and complex gardens.

Education Requirements: A Master's Degree is strongly preferred. A Bachelor's Degree is required. All degrees should be from accredited institutions.
Qualification and Experience: Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience managing a large complex facilities or complex capital projects is required, along with previous supervisory experience and excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to: manage relationships with internal and external partners in a collegial manner; work on multiple projects with competing deadlines; establish goals and workload priorities; a thorough knowledge of budgets, planning, and trades; and effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. In addition, successful candidates will understand and be sensitive to a diverse academic environment and be able to interaction with all levels of management, faculty, staff and students. Experience and comfort with giving presentations to groups and senior leadership is preferred.
