Experience Requirement: The candidate must have experience in the following; university teaching and serving in a leadership role in higher education. The candidate must have a strong record of scholarly productivity; demonstrate a record of service; and must qualify for appointment at the level of Associate or Full Professor.

Usual Duties: This is a full-time, tenured faculty position. The Department of Counselor Education offers two master's degrees, an M.A. in Counseling with two areas - Clinical Mental Health Counseling or Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling and an M.Ed. in School Counseling. The department also offers a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and an undergraduate minor in Human Services. The chair will lead and coordinate strategic planning and curriculum development for the department; manage the budget; evaluate faculty and staff performance; coordinate accreditation and program approval initiatives; teach four courses during the academic year, provide service to the university, community, and profession; actively participate in student recruitment; facilitate professional development programs for faculty and staff; and promote interdepartmental collaboration and communication. In addition, the chair will participate as a member of the executive council for the College of Education.

Degree Requirements: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP institution is preferable.

Other Requirements for the Position: The candidate must be licensed as a mental health provider. If candidate is licensed in another state and offered the position, candidate must seek licensure in Texas. It is preferred that the candidate has experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
