Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking a tenure-eligible PhD neuroscientist with expertise in microglial biology as it pertains to Cerebrovascular diseases, such as stroke, aneurysm and vascular malformations in animals and humans, to fill an Academic Investigator position.

This position will conduct basic and translational research in our Neurovascular lab and other areas as we target neurovascular disorders such as stroke, aneurysm and vascular malformations. The candidate is expected to perform duties towards the research directives of the Neurovascular lab but will be encouraged and expected to pursue their own complementary research.

Qualifications include a PhD in neurosciences or related fields and a track record for conducting basic and translational research in this field with successful or promising submissions to NIH and other sponsors. A proven history of publication in peer-reviewed neurological journals is required. Previous experience with cellular and developmental biology is required.

Tenure status and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. To be considered for a tenure-eligible position, applicants will need to demonstrate peer-reviewed publications and ultimately a record as principal investigator for extramural grant and clinical trials funding.
