**This position is open to internal candidates at the University of North Texas.**

Job Description
The BioDiscovery Institute Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Assistant Director II to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Supporting the faculty in the BioDiscovery Institute through researching.
* Ordering equipment and supplies.
* Negotiating and maintaining service contracts.
* Working with Maintenance to ensure smooth operations of faciltiies and equipment.
* Keeping labs stocked with consumables.
* Coordinating disposal of wastes and washing of glassware.
* Keeping track of inventory.
* Keeping BDI signage and audio-visual displays updated.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Combination of scientific and laboratory management experience.
* Preferably a Bachelor's degree in a biological subject plus at least 5 years experience as a laboratory manager working with molecular plant scientists.
* Experience working with scientists on equipment specifications.
* Interacting with vendors to obtain the required equipment at the best price is necessary, as is experience in overseeing service contracts.
* Purchasing
* Waste disposal.
* Working with facilities personnel to ensure that laboratories remain functional at all times.
