Degree and Area of Specialization:
Candidates must have a PhD in a biological science
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
- Minimum 5 years research experience at the Assistant Scientist level or its equivalent required.
- Candidates must have authored or co-authored at least 5 articles in refereed journals, post degree; or authored or co-authored one major scholarly work, post degree.
- Preference will be given to candidates with post-doctoral research experience in isolation of intestinal cells and of their apical membrane, measurement of enzyme activity of digestive enzymes, extraction of RNA, checks on its integrity, conversion to cDNA, and quantification of mRNA with qPCR to quantify mRNA levels relative to reference genes, isolation and proteomic identification of membrane proteins, isolation and transcriptomic identification of relevant genes, relevant experience in bioinformatics, familiarity with phylogenetically and allometrically based analyses of vertebrate structure and function; record of first-author publication.
This position will collaborate on the National Science Foundation-supported research titled "Molecular mechanisms of dietary modulation of intestinal enzymes in birds", and the Hatch supported research titled "Molecular mechanisms of modulation of intestinal disaccharidases in young chickens".
