Job Purpose Towson University is accepting applications for an Academic Support Coordinator (ASC) to work at its Northeastern Maryland (TUNE) facility. The ASC at TUNE would have multiple areas of responsibility including assisting the University's Academic Achievement and Writing Centers in the delivery of their services to the students enrolled at TUNE. In addition, the ASC will be responsible for the facilitation of library reference, research, and referral services. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with individual and small groups of students in TUNE's friendly and intimate campus setting.

Towson University in Northeastern Maryland (TUNE) is located on the grounds of Harford Community College in Bel Air, MD.

Provide general academic support for all students at TUNE, and act as resource for the academic programs at TUNE through the following processes:

Academic Achievement Center/Writing Center Services Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with the TUNE Director of Student Services and the University's Academic Achievement Center, Writing Center, Business Excellence Lab, and Career Center to provide academic support services for TUNE students. Provide feedback to TUNE students on their writing as well as help students create plans for successful revision. Provide customized workshops and academic coaching for students that promote academic success strategies, teach effective study skills, and share online and campus resources. Collaborate with faculty and students to establish and support study groups. Serve as satellite coordinator to supervise and train peer tutors at TUNE. Collaborate with TUNE academic departments to evaluate potential service needs for incoming students.

Cook Library Resource Services Responsibilities
Manage the TUNE library collection, the circulation desk, and course reserve requests. Assist users in requesting material through interlibrary loan or patron placed holds. Provide individual or small group assistance with research for papers, projects and presentations. Monitor academic program / content librarian visits

Advising Responsibilities
Collaborate with the TUNE Academic Program Manager and Program Coordinators to: Provide appropriate and effective academic advising to TUNE students who are changing majors or considering adding a minor. Monitor student Academic Plans through degree completion and graduation. Supply pertinent student data upon request for tracking purposes and reporting. Work collaboratively with the Towson University Disability Support Services and the TUNE Director of Student Services to support effective accommodations to students who qualify for Disability Support Services support.

Additional Responsibilities
Attend TUNE events to share information about available resources including Transfer Orientations, Open Houses, etc. This position requires some evening hours. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in related field of study (English, writing, library science, etc.) with two years of experience providing tutoring or academic coaching at the college or university level. The selected candidate must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; be a self-starter who can work well on their own; have strong organizational skills with attention to detail; show evidence of the ability to be flexible in a changing technological and public service environment; and be a team player with a strong work ethic. In addition, the selected candidate must have proficient computer skills including all platforms of the Microsoft Office Suite and demonstrate an ability to conduct research and navigate electronic databases.
Master's degree, knowledge of library print and electronic reference sources, and experience using an integrated library computer system preferred.
