Primary Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the Gipson Center Program Director, provides support and assistance to consumers that participate in program services.

Position funding renews every year. Continuation of this position is based on renewal of funding.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide on-site support to consumers.
  • Provide off-site transportation to access community resources.
  • Participate in developing Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP).
  • Communicates consumer progress and concerns to Gipson Center Program Director.
  • Provide recreational activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of six (6) months volunteer or paid experience in a helping and or support role in human services, behavioral services or other related areas.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Skills/Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and ability to use email.
  • Ability to work follow directions and getting along with others.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong desire to help others.
  • Ability to operate office machines, copiers, scanners, fax machines, voice mail systems and personal computer.
  • Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.

    Physical Requirements:

    The position requires performing physical activities, including standing, kneeling and reaching while interacting with others within the field and within the office. Candidates must be able to move more quickly than the consumer they are working with and be able to move quickly and swiftly from the floor, to the chair, and back.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Requires a current TB test.

    Additional Requirements:
    Ability to pass background/sanction checks for the funding agency(ies).

    Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
    Work performed in varied environments including office and public settings.
    This position will utilize standard business hours but may occasionally include evening and weekends. Travel requirements as a function of service provisions.

    Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University’s insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

    Hiring Range: Min $12.11 per hour to Mid $15.15 per hour, non-exempt
