Summary of Duties:
The HR Senior Consultant is a professional administrative position providing leadership and management in the effective delivery of human resource (HR) services and programs to assigned university areas/colleges. As a Senior Business Partner, this position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value added service to management and employees which reflect the business objectives of the university.

This position serves as a consultant to senior leadership and management on HR related issues and communicates needs proactively to successfully develop integrated solutions. This position collaborates with HR subject matter experts across the university.

This position is part of WSU Pullman Human Resource Services with the primary work locations assigned to the WSU Spokane Campus. This position will travel to the WSU Pullman campus and university locations throughout the state of Washington one to three times per month.

Key Responsibilities include but is not limited to:
  • Seeking to advance the relationships between Human Resources Services and areas/colleges to facilitate the success of the University's mission and goals consistent with federal and state laws, university policies/procedures and HR best practices
  • Serving as a consultant and advises areas/colleges, senior leadership and management regarding all HR related matters, including recruitment, classification, compensation, employee relations, and laws, policies and procedures.
  • Guiding and coaching senior leadership in facilitating solutions for complex employee relations issues by discussing options and possible impacts.
  • Leading HR staff in classification/compensation. Providing constructive feedback regarding proposed allocation decisions. Assisting in evaluating classification/compensation impacts to organization structure within the unit, as well as, university-wide impacts.
  • Overseeing and managing the recruitment process for assigned areas/college working closely with department managers and supervisors.
  • Overseeing the supervision of HR staff, which includes work allocation, training, corrective action and problem resolution.

    Required Qualifications:
    A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
