With headquarters in Saratoga Springs, New York, ESC serves mostly working adults pursuing associate, bachelor's and master's degrees online and onsite at 35 locations across the state of New York and abroad.
SUNY Empire State College is seeking a Director of Outcomes Assessment (State Title: Senior Academic Advisor) for the Office of Decision Support.
The Director of Outcomes Assessment serves to enhance the college's capabilities in outcomes assessment and quality review. The Director of Outcomes Assessment is responsible for conducting analysis and research in collaboration with faculty, administrators, and professional staff to support continuous improvement of the teaching and learning environment. This position directs and oversees assessment initiatives and data management to implement assessment plans. This position will support the accreditation process and provide support to other initiatives in Decision Support.
Responsibilities include management of the General Education Assessment Review (GEAR), Area of Study (AOS) Review, and Assessment in the Major; documentation of those activities by preparing internal and external reports; soliciting faculty to participate in these reviews in collaboration with deans, associate deans and department chairs; and overseeing the collection of student work for assessment. The Director of Outcomes Assessment will conduct quantitative and qualitative research to support assessment initiatives and will provide consulting support to administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure best practice of assessment and program delivery regarding such complex issues as student engagement, student success, and student retention. The Director of Outcomes Assessment reports to the Vice President for Decision Support and works collaboratively with a range of academic and administrative staff. The Director of Outcomes Assessment supports institutional and specialized program accreditation by maintaining familiarity with accreditation standards and provides documentation to support the accreditation process. SUNY Empire State College is beginning a Middle States self-study cycle with a reaffirmation visit scheduled for 2019.The Director works with faculty and department chairs to close the loop on assessment research - feeding results into improvement initiatives and tracking the effectiveness of those activities.
- Ph.D. in psychology, education or a related discipline with substantial experience in data analysis, strong computer skills, and an advanced background in research methods and statistics appropriate for outcomes assessment
- Higher education experience in outcomes assessment or evaluation research
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with the accreditation process by having served on an institutional accreditation committee or as a site visitor
- Experience with non-traditional institutions serving adults
- Experience with Student Information Systems and electronic portfolios
- Evidence of scholarly productivity through a publications or conference presentation record
- Experience in documenting continuous improvement efforts for accreditation reviews
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Occasional travel and weekend hours
- Work hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Rank/Salary: Up to 85,000, commensurate with experience
