Job Description Summary:

For more than 30 years, GW's graduate programs in Educational Leadership and Administration have fostered exceptional leadership skills in students. The Administrative Assistant, Department of Educational Leadership (DEL) will assist the Executive Associate, DEL (Manager Program), DEL Chair, faculty, and staff by providing administrative and programmatic support along with the day-to-day coordination of the DEL office as part of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD) at GW. The Administrative Assistant will assist in the areas of scheduling, purchasing, space maintenance, student inquiries, student feedback/evaluations, report generation, file management, coordinate distribution of registration transaction forms, grade change forms, book requests and adoptions, maintain list serve and email account inquiries, and other administrative matters. The Administrative Assistant will also maintain a calendar, book rooms, assist with events and take meeting notes.

Responsibilities include:
Serves as a point person for DEL program coordinators and the department chair to the GSEHD admissions office. Assist the Department Chair and the Executive Associate (program manager) in day-to-day operations related to managing an administrative office.
Assist with course scheduling, student admissions, faculty searches, and marketing of DEL programs.
Assists faculty with grade submission by coordinating with the office of the registrar. Facilitates course/faculty evaluation process by composing, distributing, and processing all DEL evaluations.
Assist DEL program coordinators in submitting course schedules to meet GSEHD deadlines.
Aids faculty and students with registration by coordinating with the GSEHD student services offices.
Compile data and compose reports for the department chair or his/her designate, as requested.
Distributes mail and assists with procuring supplies. Serves as the receptionist for all calls.
This position performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient use of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Datamart, and other chart/graph software.

Ability to multitask, superb communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple parties.

Excellent customer service, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
