Instructor - Dance and Theatre
The Theatre and Dance Program within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts in the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs seeks a dance focused interdisciplinary artist and scholar to begin fall semester 2018. The programmatic ethos of integration in theatre and dance is important to our faculty and a central focus of this new position. The ideal candidate will be expected to help guide the growing dance program with a goal of developing it from a minor to a major track. The program is experiencing extensive growth and about to move into the brand new, state of the art, 90,000-square foot Ent Center for the Performing Arts, providing opportunity for residencies and master classes by nationally renowned dance artists. The successful candidate will teach a range of classes including dance history, world dance, dance special topics, and theatre/dance integration, work with the Director of Theatre and Dance and the dance faculty in developing a robust dance major, help plan and schedule a season of dance performances and events in the dance studio in the Ent Center for the Arts, and assist the Director in advising dance students. The academic year teaching load will be seven courses (3-4 or 4-3). Academic year salary ~$40,000.
Applicants must have an MFA or PhD in dance, movement theatre, or related field; be accomplished as a dance or movement artist; and have professional and academic choreography experience. Preferred qualifications include 5 years of academic or professional experience and movement research and writing.
